We are excited to continue to build out our 1:1 initiative allowing PCPS to put a Chromebook device in the hands of students in grades 3 - 5. The goal of getting devices into grades 3 - 5 students’ hands will allow PCPS teachers to provide engaging learning experiences. Students who can access an internet connection will utilize Schoology to access and complete assignments beginning February 1, 2021. As an alternative for those students who are unable to access an internet connection, paper-pencil packets will continue to be available. For those students who have occasional internet access, instructions are forthcoming regarding how to download materials so that assignments can be completed offline and uploaded at a later time.
Before your student will receive their device, the parent/guardian will need to sign the PCPS Device Agreement. Please see the link below to review the PCPS Device Agreement prior to your scheduled pick-up time. Copies will be provided at the time of pick for parent/guardian signature.
Pick-up times at each of the four elementary schools are listed below:
Springfield Elementary School - January 20, 2021 - 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

This is a very important message from Page County Public Schools:
Over the past few weeks we have been closely monitoring COVID-19 data and its impact on our schools and community. In recent days, the number of cases has increased in the community. While student COVID cases and quarantines across the school division is low, our staff absences due to the virus are significantly starting to impact our ability to sustain our in person instructional model. School staff and administration have worked creatively to substitute for colleagues leveraging all our resources. We expect additional staff absences over the next few weeks to increase and we will not have the substitutes available to cover sufficiently. Therefore, we are making a short term change wherein Page County Public Schools will go FULL REMOTE for the next two weeks. After that we will all take time to celebrate the season with our 2 week winter holiday break. Schools will be putting out announcements regarding pick-ups for instructional materials. Announcements regarding food delivery and athletics will be forthcoming. Please continue to check for additional updates. Thank you.

Editing Credits to Nolan Nichols, LHS Class of 2010.

A few years ago Massanutten Regional Library (MRL) rolled out a Student Access Card (SAC) for use by all PCPS students. This SAC gives all students access to some of the digital resources available through MRL. It includes access to all of the school age appropriate databases provided to public libraries by the Library of Virginia as well as sources paid for by MRL for which our contracts allow this type of sharing.
In an effort to help students we have created a video specific to PCPS that highlights information on how to use the card as well as some of the resources available with the card. This link will take you to the video on the MRL YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deLrlrd2BVs&list=PLZLxa2aKIdp_WGx7uzSjhU1yBoYp6148I&index=3

If ever there was a group that deserved recognition, especially during this time, it's our cafeteria and Nutritional Services staff. To Jennie Jeffries, her assistant Kate Comer, and to all of PCPS Nutritional Services staff (and to the volunteers who have assisted), we applaud you for your hard work everyday, and especially since the end of March when your dedication to the students and community of Page County was never more obvious. YOU are the true Lunch Heroes! Today, we celebrate you!

A Message to Our Page County Public Schools Community:
A new program will allow PCPS students who are qualified to receive free or reduced price meals to also be eligible for additional assistance through a pandemic EBT program. We do not have all of the specifics or timeline yet, but this project will be in addition to the free meal delivery for all children 18 and under that is already occurring. If your child was already approved for free or reduced price meals, you do not have to do anything. If you were not already qualified for free/reduced price meals, families can still apply online at www.lunchapplication.com or can request a paper application by calling the Central Office (540) 743-6533 ext. 2816 or by e-mailing vjeffries@pagecounty.k12.va.us. If a family was denied free/reduced price meals earlier in the school year, but there has been a change in the household income, the number of people living in the household, or someone in the household is now receiving SNAP or TANF benefits, you may reapply. Those families who have a new address (which has not been previously reported to the school), should contact their home school to make sure it is updated. Please contact the Nutritional Services Office (540) 743-6533 with any questions. This institution is an equal opportunity provider. Thank you, and please share.

Within the next 24 hours, all school divisions will be given guidance from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) pertaining to graduation credits, continuity of learning with a focus on equity and other matters. Meals will continue to be provided to students. We know you will have many questions and we ask for your patience and understanding while we work on the details in collaboration with our federal and state agencies. We will have more to share with our stakeholders later this week, and we will continue to communicate the next steps and plans as they evolve throughout the upcoming weeks and months as we navigate these uncharted waters together. Please stay safe, and please share. Thank you.

Update from the superintendent's office: PCPS has been working in consultation with various agencies regarding school closures due to COVID-19. While we are awaiting official guidance from local and state agencies, we would encourage families to plan for the likely event of an extended school closure beyond the original March 27th date. While we do not have an official announcement just yet, we want our PCPS families to be prepared for this strong possibility, as an official decision is likely to be made sometime next week. When, and if, that happens, more communication regarding our instructional plans will be forthcoming. There is no academic emergency right now, so do not feel pressured to begin teaching your students at home; however, if you want things for your children to do, we have lots of resources listed on our website, pagek12.org (click on the Covid-19 button). Right now, students only need to be enjoying the safety of their homes and an extended spring break.

Each day our numbers continue to grow in our meal deliveries for children. Almost 600 meals were delivered on the first day. On the second day, 737 were delivered, and we have orders for almost 800 meals today. None of this would be possible without the help of our volunteers who are helping to serve our community. Thank you for all you do! If you, or someone you know is need of meals, please visit https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGd70TkPEXF5N-0nnbhVPFKYDDSc-Zd3UhvZCRJMKMD7WsJg/viewform
