In March of 2023, Page County Public Schools was provided a Communities in Schools grant from the Virginia Department of Education. This grant was designed to support school divisions in the development and implementation of community schools that provide a framework for integrated student support, expanded/enriched learning time and opportunities, active family/community engagement, and collaborative leadership and practices. As the Community in Schools grant has provided the start-up for each school’s clothing/hygiene closet, we continued to seek those in our community who would assist us in ensuring the longevity of these closets within each school.
In early December of 2023, Mr. William Bolton of the Monsignor Paul V Heller Council #8393 Knights of Columbus in partnership with Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Luray, VA, coordinated and began collecting personal hygiene products for Page County Public Schools. On February 2, 2024, Mr. Bolton and his team delivered to Page County Public Schools the donated personal hygiene products. These hygiene products will be distributed to our division's clothing/hygiene closets to be provided to students and families.
Page County Public Schools (PCPS) is grateful for our community support and looks forward to the continuation of these partnerships. Henry Ford once said “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” The success of the students of PCPS takes the working together of our community partners as we seek to positively impact this generation.
