Mrs. Day's Social Studies class at Page County Middle School had an awesome station rotation — students read an excerpt from Of Mice and Men and The Great Gatsby, listened to Gershwin, Copland, Ellington, Armstrong and more, and explored O’Keeffe’s and Jacob Lawrence’s art. They connected how art, music, and writing from the 1920s–30s reflect big ideas about place, identity, and everyday life — and they did it by seeing, hearing, and reading together. Proud of how curious and thoughtful they were today! Thanks to Mrs. Brumfield for putting this together so that the students learned hands and ears on about prominent figures in the 1920s and 1930s.What a day — students left with a louder sense of how the 1920s–30s shaped American culture!
