LURAY, Va. ― Page County Public Schools is proud to announce that Nutritional Services Supervisor, Kate Campbell was awarded the Franco Harris Legacy Scholarship from Super Bakery, Inc. The national professional development scholarship funded Campbell’s attendance to the School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina in July, where she was recognized as a recipient of the scholarship.
The Franco Harris Scholarship recognizes professionals for their leadership, dedication, and commitment to serving students. Recipients of this scholarship are inducted into the 22 Second Society, which is an exclusive group of school nutrition professionals inspired by Franco Harris’ legacy of service and leadership. The scholarship recognizes the positive impact that school nutrition professionals have on students and their communities, while providing the recipients with the opportunity to attend the national conference for professional development. Mrs. Campbell said, “It was a tremendous honor to be selected, and I’m grateful for the opportunity it provided me to represent Page County Public Schools at the national conference.”
Franco Harris is a former Pittsburgh Steeler, who when faced with certain loss in a game against the Oakland Raiders in 1972, beat all odds and ignited a culture of winning with his “Immaculate Reception.” The 22 Second Society was born from this accomplishment. Harris believed that 22 seconds is enough time to change the world, and that all of us have the potential to make great things happen.
