SHAKING UP SCIENCE AND ICE CREAM AT PCMS

7th graders, during RTI Enrichment class, used their muscles and some Science magic to create a cool refreshing ice cream snack. They mixed all the ingredients in a Ziploc baggie, and put it inside another baggie filled with ice and salt.   Ice cream is an emulsion, which means small droplets of one liquid dispersed or spread throughout another liquid. Using their muscle power and a lot of shaking, they emulsified their ice cream, by dispersing the ice crystals, fat molecules, and air, thus creating a yummy treat!
