Group Welding 2

The Welding 2 class at Page County Technical Center began drawing blueprints for benches after we were tasked with the construction of building two benches. One winning blueprint was selected, and the team transitioned from conceptual work to hands-on construction.

The benches themselves tell their story through design. One features a striking painted backrest adorned with blue, yellow, and orange hues depicting mountain peaks and a sunrise—a nod to the natural beauty of the region. The second bench showcases a dynamic wave-like metal backrest in deep maroon tones, offering a contrasting aesthetic while maintaining equal craftsmanship. Both benches share similar armrests in a nod to “Row The Boat.” They were engraved by the students and then painted to look like an oar. Perhaps most impressive was the attention to detail in the finishing touches. The team didn't simply leave their work unsigned—they had custom 3D-printed plugs with "PCTC Welding" embossed directly on them.

Standing proudly behind their completed projects, the twelve students in the photo. This project represents more than just a class assignment. They embody the spirit of the skilled trades: precision, pride in craftsmanship, community connection, and the ability to transform a blueprint into a lasting, functional work of art. Their benches will serve as gathering places while standing as monuments to what can be accomplished when education, competition, and collaboration intersect.
