Attention families and friends of Luray High School: This afternoon we evacuated the high school due to smoke inside the building. Following a full evacuation and emergency response, fire officials determined that a furnace had malfunctioned. They were able to remedy the situation quickly and we were permitted to safely re-enter the building. We appreciate the swift response by local emergency services. We are also proud to say that our students and staff handled this situation beautifully. Nicky Clark Principal Luray High School

Happy Administrative Professionals Day
Wednesday, April 27,2022, is Administrative Professionals Day, but we are honoring our unsung heroes all week long! Mrs. Robin Cubbage--Springfield Elementary School Mrs. Cubbage has been with Page County Public Schools for the past 27 years. She spent her first 16 years at Luray Elementary School as a Title 1 Math Instructional Assistant. She says she enjoyed her time there with the kindest students and staff. She was awarded the opportunity to move to Springfield Elementary School in 2011, and has been there every since. She says, "I love Springfield. Everyone works so hard to ensure they provide the best for each and every student. My favorite part is interacting with the students, staff and parents." When asked what motivates her, she said, "I love to help others by doing things that might make their day better or easier." When she's not at Springfield, you can find her spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren! Thank you, Mrs. Cubbage, for all that you do for the Springfield Community. We couldn't do it without you!!

It's School Library Month. Celebrate with us! Mrs. Tricia Runyan--Springfield Elementary School I've served as librarian at Springfield Elementary School for the past 3 years. Before that, I was an 8th grade English teacher at Luray Middle School. Before coming to Page County in the summer of 2013 I served as a high school English teacher and Librarian for Colonial Beach Schools. In addition to my role as librarian at Springfield, I also serve as the division's Communications Specialist. In this role I provide upkeep to the web pages for each school, maintain the county Facebook page, help send out alerts for schools and the district, and work with the media outlets. While each job I hold is very different, I enjoy them both immensely. There is nothing better than seeing the smile on the face of child who has found just the right book to take home, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing your part to encourage and inspire each of them to find a reason to love reading. When I'm not at school, I enjoy reading and spending time with my husband and our children. We have three kids ages 27 to 17 and we are expecting our second grandchild at the end of next month! If there's one thing I've learned, it's that being a grandparent is, by far, the best part of getting older!! Moving to Page County, going on 10 years ago, was the best decision we ever made as a family. It is a pleasure and an honor to work for the school division.
