Dear PCPS Faculty, Staff and Families,
Late this afternoon, information was provided to PCPS from local law enforcement regarding a social media post showing a weapon and a threat listing the abbreviations for several locations. Two of those abbreviations were written as “Lhs” and “Lms”.
This post is in reference to school divisions in Maryland and does not have anything to do with Page County Public Schools, Luray High or Luray Middle schools.
We are sharing this information with you to let you know that we are aware of this post as is law enforcement and to assure you that this threat is not directed to PCPS, LHS, or LMS.
Thank you once again to our law enforcement partners for their responsiveness and continued support.
Parents and Guardians, please continue to have conversations with your children about making threats of any kind and the importance of reporting information to the school or law enforcement.
Thank you

In conjunction with law enforcement, Luray High School administration is investigating information that was shared with them regarding a possible threat to the school. This threat is being deemed as not credible and no students or staff are in danger.
We are notifying everyone to minimize rumors and reassure everyone that we are aware of the situation, it continues to be investigated and law enforcement is involved. To provide everyone with additional reassurance, there will be an additional police presence at the school today.
Students who make threats, even if they are deemed not credible, will be held accountable in accordance with the PCPS Student Handbook and Code of Conduct and law enforcement will pursue any applicable charges based on the facts of the situation.
We want to assure you that we continue to take these reports very seriously with the safety of our students and staff continuing to be a top priority. Please know that we are committed to maintaining an environment where students and staff feel secure, and we continue to encourage all staff, students and families to report anything that may be concerning. Thank you to those who stepped up to bring this matter to the attention of adults today.
Thank you for your continued support of LHS and PCPS.
