Stanley Elementary School has been cleared by the Stanley Fire Department; however, while thermal images by the Fire Department show no active fire, out of an abundance of caution to determine the cause of a potential electrical situation this morning, we will be dismissing Stanley Elementary School early.
PCPS will provide transportation home for all students who need it and we will share an estimated time of departure from Stanley Elementary School shortly. If parents or guardians opt to pick up their child, please have a photo ID ready and follow all directions of staff while on site.
PCPS will provide a bag lunch ad drink to all students to take home. Please be advised that students will not be able to return to their classrooms to get their belongings before being dismissed.
We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this unexpected situation. Please stand by for more information shortly. Thank you.

Power Outage at Page County High & Shenandoah Elementary School
SVEC reports they are actively working on the outage which is impacting a large area in Shenandoah. We are proceeding with the Steak Dinner event at Page High and the 85th Shenandoah Alumni Association Dinner at Shenandoah Elementary. If there are any changes to these events, we will notify the community.

Decisions are hard to make!
It's National Decision Day, and these groups of seniors (ones who chose to be pictured) have made their choices!!
The biggest group: LHS seniors that have all made their decisions regarding which college they will attend in the fall.
The smaller group: Those students who have made the commitment to join our U.S. military. Pictured are Elliot Downing and Ryan Lewis (not pictured, Zane Lafferty) These boys will leave this summer for bootcamp.. Not pictured ,and currently in boot camp, are Dustin Deeds, Connor Irvin, and Dawson Vasilas.

On Monday, April 29, 2024, students from Luray and Page County High School who participated in the Dual Enrollment Ceremony at Laurel Ridge Community College (Luray-Page County Center)were recognized for their academic achievements. Students were either awarded a 1 year Uniform Certificate of General Studies or an Associates Degree. This is an enormous accomplishment and we congratulate them on their academic success.

The senior class would like to create a slideshow that commemorates their lives and time here at Luray High School. The slide show will consist of photos of the students at any point during their life (infancy to present day). and will be viewed on June 6th. We invite all seniors and parents to submit appropriate photos to be included in the slideshow. We ask that they be submitted on a Google slide to Mr. Shafer (eshafer@pagecounty.k12.va.us) NO LATER THAN Friday, May 17th. We appreciate your contribution to the slideshow and know that it will be a special time of reflection for all of the seniors.

TONIGHT AND TOMORROW NIGHT---WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE
In partnership with the VDOE Community Schools Grant and Page County Public Schools' Kindness Initiative, PCPS is pleased to present Brooks Gibbs, a popular youth speaker who inspires students not to get upset and to live by the "Golden Rule."
Join us for an engaging evening of inspiration and prizes made possible by our VDOE grant partnership. Prizes include themed baskets and the Grand Prize each evening of a Nintendo Switch.

Today, in conjunction with PACA, Page County Sheriff's Department, Luray Police Department, and Stacey's Towing, students at Luray High School were able to see a car that had been in a recent crash, experience what it is like to try to function "under the influence" (with the use of goggles), drive "while under the influence," and participate in a field sobriety test (while wearing the under the influence goggles).
This event was held today, prior to prom, to reinforce to students that driving under the influence can have severe consequences.

Yesterday, 10th grade PE/ Driver's Ed classes of Luray High School participated in the Virginia State Police Distracted Driver Simulation. The purpose of this event is to educate young, new drivers on the hazards of being distracted or impaired while being behind the wheel.
This is a reminder that this evening, Thursday, April 25, 2024, is the regularly scheduled school board meeting. The meeting will be held at the Central Office Board Room at 6:30 p.m. and may be viewed LIVE on our YouTube Channel. Comments are due by 4p.m.
